Celebrate Earth Day
Earth Day Event
Slated for Fargo
FARGO –The public is invited to attend an Earth Day celebration on Wednesday, April 21st, from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Osgood Hornbacher’s (4151 45th St S), in Fargo.
The North Dakota Alliance for Renewable Energy (NDARE) is organizing the event, along with Cass County Electric, Gate City Bank and the North Dakota State University Extension Service. The North Dakota Chapter of the US Green Buildings Council and the City of Fargo are also taking part.
“Earth Day reminds us all of our intimate connection with the environment,” said NDARE chairperson Patrice Lahlum. “This Earth Day celebration will provide people with educational materials on energy use and conservation, along with useful materials to live in a more environmentally friendly way.”
Gate City Bank will be offering free reusable bags, Cass County Electric will be passing out free CFL light bulbs, NDARE will be giving away free packets of garden seed and the NDSU Extension Service will provide educational materials and tips on energy efficiency and conservation. All of the items will be available while supplies last.
The North Dakota Chapter of the US Green Buildings Council will offer a drawing for a “LEED starter kit” and the City of Fargo will also offer drawings for free yard compost and for a free backyard composter.
LEED is a green building certification program offered through the US Green Buildings Council that is based on energy savings, water efficiency, air quality, resource stewardship and emission reductions.
The North Dakota Alliance for Renewable Energy is a diverse membership-based advocacy organization that works with citizens, industry, government, interest groups, and educators to promote the development and use of renewable energy, including biofuels, biomass and wind energy, as well as the widespread adoption of smart energy efficiency and conservation practices.

NDARE is growing with over 60 members comprised of individuals, growers groups, utilities, RECs, state agencies, economic development groups, universities, banks, manufacturers, and more.
